Hi! And a happy Beltane-type season to you also, even though I'm a day late...I'm not exactly getting a lot of time to celebrate, myself... Glad to see you on this site! Enjoy!

I thought this would be the best place for this....hello everyone! I have been away for several weeks...maybe longer, I can't remember. I hope you are all well and that you are enjoying the lovely Fall weather.
I have been busy with work and family life. Things were a bit chaotic for me toward the end of summer but these things have calmed down now and I feel content with life again.
My granddaughter, Hayden, is almost 11 months old now! She is doing great, she is walking and talking and stealing hearts wherever she goes. She is healthy and happy and has quite a pleasant personality. I am sorry to say that her parents, my son and his gf have decided to separate and my son has been living with me for about two months. I can only hope that Hunter and Anjy work out their differences and do what is best for them and their child. Of course, I would be delighted if they decide to continue to live together but if they decide to not be partners I will support that decision also.
My boyfriend, Pete, is not doing so great lately. He has been in a very deep depression for several months. He is seeing a doctor and he also decided that he would start seeing a therapist to help with his depression and ptsd issues. He met with this therapist last week and said he feels comfortable with this man and that he is easy to speak to. This therapist specializes in ptsd, grief, loss and long term depression and Pete chose him specifically for these reasons.
I got a bit of a health scare this summer. I had blood work done and it came back with very elevated sugar, triglycerides and cholesterol. My doctor wanted to put me on several medications and we talked and agreed that I would try to improve my health through changing my eating and exercise habits and do my best to drop a good amount of weight, as I have been obese for years. I am happy to say that in the past six week I have lost 23 pounds, I am eating a healthy balanced diet and I am exercising almost every day. I feel loads better and my doctor wants to retest my blood levels in about a month to see the improvements. I am treating this as a life long change in habits and although it was a total bitch the first couple of weeks I have since fallen into a nice rythm that I am comfortable with and that is doable.
Something I wanted to mention and was not sure what forum to put this in......since joining a couple of social internet networks ie. myspace, facebook, several people have caught onto the fact that I am pagan and have been very rudely assuming that because I am pagan that I will give them free tarot readings and even worse, perform love spells for them! I find this very odd and I am not knocking any other religion but all of these people are christians??!! I politely tell them that I do not perform love spells for anyone including myself and that a tarot reading really takes a lot of my time and energy and I do not like do them over the internet that often as this takes more of my energy.....this was met with outright bitchiness. I just thought is was odd that a faith path that is against divination and any type of witchery would even ask for such things in the first place. It has just been bugging me lately and I am probably giving it too much of my attention.
I hope you all are well and I hope to be around more.

I think that you are absolutely right to decline their requests. I also fully agree with your explanation. I think that it is one of those damn "novelty" things. There seems to be more christians who go for Tarot readings than anyone else (catholic, apostolic, presby etc) and it makes me wonder, is it like a side show for them? A Fair (the travelling show) booth? I guess it can go back to Gypsies who used Tarot as a means of employment? Then again look how many people still use it to gain monetarily. I just don't believe that they believe. Do they heed what is said or go merrily on their way giggling about how "neat" it was. Sigh. I don't know. In better news, Hi Hy!

Again not to bash any particular religion, but many years ago, Christians had a rule against a thing called "usury" (refer to your credit card company for further information). At the same time, in many European countries Jews could not own land or join the craft guilds, but of course needed a means to support themselves. Hence it developed, that anyone who needed a loan went to the Jewish section of town; the reputation (stereotype) for being natural dealers-with-money has of course dogged Jews to this day. I'm sure that at some point, Jews must have mused between themselves about how many of their clients (for loans that were generally very reasonable by today's standards, but that were still prohibited among Christians) came from a community in which loans at any interest at all were forbidden. Just sayin'. Wonder what the Pagan reputation will be in a thousand years, long after anything we would recognize as Tarot or Runes or any other current divination system has ceased to be fashionable. Given the community in question, I suppose we should be glad they are asking for Tarot readings and not sex.
