So, I'm a HUGE "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" fan. HUGE. When I first saw it I thought it was lame. Then after watching it a little I was hooked. So, after buying all 7 seasons on DVD, and then watching all 144 episodes over roughly 2 months, I was a little sad when I finished the series and had no more episodes to watch.
At first I thought, "Well, I could watch "Angel"..." but I can not STAND Angel. He's, as Spike would put it, "a ponce." So a friend of mine had suggested the show "Firefly" which is also done by Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy.
Holy wow. It. Is. FUN. Sad thing, they only made one season of it, and one movie. Sucks! We've been Netflixing the dvds and only have one more to watch, plus the movie, and then its over. What a load of crap.
Anyway, what are some of your favorite T.V. series?

I liked Buffy, though it had its on seasons and its off ones. Angel wasn't bad in syndication - especially towards the end when Spike joins the cast.
I liked Firefly, and Serenity was pretty awesome.
I also liked Stargate - both SGC and Atlantis, tho Atlantis never quite had the same oomph, and Stargate had its less than stellar seasons, too.
I liked Kindred, way back when, but it only lasted for one season and it was very soap-operay. More recent vampire fare was Moonlight, which I also liked - mostly - but which also got cancelled after one season.
I really liked the HBO series Carnivale - I think that lasted two seasons.
Current faves, tho, are Eureka and Burn Notice. I like House a lot, tho for awhile I was getting scared that it was getting too formulaic. I'm also sort of off and on with Bones - I like it, but it irritates the hell outta me sometimes. NCIS is fun to watch, but I could take it or leave it. I like Abby, tho.
Oh, I also like the new Dr. Who and Torchwood - though both are sort of on hiatus. We're getting a few "specials", but I'm not sure when we're going to get an actual season again.
I also kind of like Sanctuary, which is decent sci-fi if you can get past the bad effects... and I'm waiting for season 3 of Robin Hood on BBC America. Speaking of BBC - Hex was pretty cool, but that was also cancelled after season 2.
Speaking of series that bug me - we've been watching this Harper's Island thing, and it has it's tense 'suspense' moments, but mostly it's just annoying. People acting stupidly - there's a random killer on the loose, and we don't know who it is... so let's contrive to find ourselves wandering off alone *all the time*. Or, once the killer is unmasked, let's run out the window while aiming a gun at him - instead of just shooting him. Or, my favorite, is how none of these people can aim a damn gun. I mean, they have shot guns... the dude's not standing far away... he doesn't even move when you shoot at him... and they still can't hit him. Not even close enough to get him with the spray shot, apparently. Holy crispy christ on a cracker, this show is annoying. But I'm invested now, and there's only two episodes left, and I'm waiting for the mystery second killer to be revealed. It's terrible, really it is... but I can't look away. It's like watching a train wreck. This is, thankfully, not an on-going series, tho, and there is an end in sight!
Anyway - writing this I realize how much crap TV I watch. But, still, it's better than reality shows. *grins*
Oh - and there is not a single decent cartoon on anymore. Ok, I do watch the new Wolverine and the X-Men on Nickelodeon... but I'm not saying it's decent. I just have a weakness for all things X-Men. :>
**Added to say that, going old-school, Bab 5 was a pretty awesome sci-fi series... just ignore the really crappy CGI.
**Addendum number 2 to say that if you like Joss Whedon, then you really have to watch 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog'. It's not a series, really - more an internet movie thing (which you can get on DVD), but it's really funny. It ended kind of abruptly, but, other than that, it was really good.

I'm hooked on Lost. Its just such a good show and so full off easter eggs and hidden meanings that you really have to watch an episode multiple times, or go online and read other peoples hours of work. Pretty much everything from a characters last name to art work in the background has some significance to the story line. Company names are anagrams that hold clues, the books the characters read are clues... It's a great mystery thriller with a lot of thought put into it. But then the network wanted a final end date for the show so lately it seems more thrown together then what they originally intended. Still great.
Loved x-files, and know the feeling of being completely bummed when the dvd marathon is finally over. Movie sucked, tho.
We also really liked OZ on HBO. It's definitely not for everyone. Pretty gritty and graphic.
Also like House...and that's about it if we're not including non-fiction shows.

I was a huge X-phile when it was first on. I stopped watching it when Duchovny left, tho. When I was in high school I would go over to a girlfriends house where 4 of us hung out and watched it every Friday... Then we'd talk about the episode while watching whatever was on after (I think it was Friday the 13th the series which had nothing to do with the movies and was better for it.). Ah - memories of high school geekdom...
