Rave: Tonight I am celebrating Lindisfarne Day (take THAT Church of St. Cuthbert!) by watching documentaries about Vikings, then Beowulf, while drinking beer and Danish vodka. Also, my new, bad ass, silver mjolnir pendant came today. I've been saving for it for a long time now. Also also, full moon.

Speaking of the full moon... the moon last night was pretty freaking awesome. Had a weird sort of intermingled male/female energy... and it was so big and cowled, with an aura... peaking through the clouds. Very pretty night...

RAVE:
*Kali sings* I have a new best FRIE-END!
Ok, so basically, the youth center is getting a new Vista worker and she is AWESOME! We have a lot in common and I've been spending a lot of time with her lately. She moved here from Texas and is glad to have the company and someone to show her around. And we are becoming work out buddies too! PLUS I get a paid position at the youth center for the summer so I will get to hang out with her at work too! HORRAY!

Rave:
GO PENS!!! The Stanley Cup AND The Lombardi Trophy in one year!
Plus, Pittsburgh voted as America's #1 most livable city once again. AND the G20 Summit coming here.
Man I love being a Pittsburgher.
In the words of Mike Lange, "Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has just... left... the building."

Rave: Today at church we celebrated Midsummer with an emphasis on how important it is in Sweden. The service was led by a friend named Pete who is of Swedish heritage and he asked me to help out with the service. So I got up in front of my entire church and gave a short (10 minute) lesson on Norse heathenism, at Pete's request.
Holy crap do I hate public speaking... but it was a really fun serivce. Pete explained what the solstices are (by using a beach ball and a flashlight, haha) and why they were so important then and why they are still important now.
I had a lot of positive feedback from the community and I feel like I finally took that step towards being completely open about my beliefs. Not an easy task for me.

...Holy crap do I hate public speaking... but it was a really fun serivce... Some organization once did a poll on what the most common fears were. Death was no. 2. (I'm an oddball there; I actually like talking in front of a group, provided it's a topic I know well). Glad you had a good time anyway, though. My rant for the day: Rule #1 of contracting: Forget "the customer is always right." Your client is not a rocket scientist. Rule #2 of contracting: If your client is Los Alamos or NASA, refer to Rule #1. Sigh.

Speaking to groups is part my job description. Its just something I've had to get used to.
Once month since September I've had to do it. And I'm usually not bringing up the popular projects.
Its a great feeling to present the project and sit there in cold silence waiting for a motion to be made.

RAAAAAAAANNNNNT!!!!!!I get home today and what do I find?!!!Really, no need to guess. If I hear the same story next month, I'm strongly considering giving notice myself. I'm sick of maintaining the place for someone who doesn't even live here.

Rave: Ok so, I love where I live. LOVE IT.
RANT: But I fncking HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE our laws on alcohol. The worst of many stupid laws regarding alcohol in PA is the one that keeps a person from having beer or wine mailed to PA residents. No beer of the month club, no wine of the month club, it's bullsh!t. Not only that, but I cannot find mead anywhere around here. I know of some places out of state that make and distribute mead. but because of the stupid goverment's stupid monopoly on stupid alcohol, I can't get it shipped to me.

RAVE! Very occasionally, but it does sometimes happen, a red hot babe comes to my house and gives me her phone number. There's something I should remember about these ladies, and it seems there was something I was ranting about on here not too long ago, but buggered if I can remember what it is...

On the alcohol thing, it's because of a Supreme Court ruling. Each state can regulate alcohol the way they see fit. For any manufacturer to ship to an individual in any other state, they have to get a permit from that state. Which means one vintor or brewer would need to get 49 permits to be able to ship to all the other states.
And almost no one is willing to go through the trouble.
Congrats D!
