Aut "You had to learn to ride a horse when you were little? Why? Didn't they have cars?" Then she snickers.

Funny.
Last night Little Bear was having a bath and we were listening to my iPhone. Little Bear has figured out that different songs have different names. Here was the conversation:
Little Bear: What song name? Me: Dark Side of the Moon. Little Bear: Moon? Me: Dark Side of the Moon. Little Bear: Side of Moon? Me: Yes sweety, Dark Side of the Moon. Little Bear: I like moon. Me: I like the moon too.
Next song comes on
Little Bear: What song name? Me: Learning to Fly. Little Bear: Fly? Me: Learning to Fly. Little Bear: I like flying.

I got to watch a bit of Jaws yesterday while Little Bear was in time out. She wasn't being very nice to mommy on mommy's day. I gave her the opportunity to apologize every 10 minutes. But the stubborn little girl refused to for an hour. She's obsessed with getting attention and it doesn't matter if it is good or bad attention.
Anyway, when the drama was finally over and she came out of the bedroom, it was the part of the movie where they are in the cabin of the ship talking about the USS Indianapolis Then the next day the sheriff, is chumming the water and the shark sticks its head out of the water.
Little Bear saw it and said, "Shark! CHOMP! CHOMP!"
I said, "yes honey, that shark goes chomp chomp. Lets find another show for you."

Aaron's nephew (5 months now) has discovered how to sit up and wants to be sitting up and looking at the whole room. He doesn't like being on his back anymore. He has figured out how to take his pacifier out and put it back in, he has discovered screaming just to scream, and he is DEFINITELY going to be a walker and skip the crawling thing. He loves to waltz around the kitchen, laughs when I tickle his feet, and has fun splashing around in the bath. Right now he has an ear infection but it doesn't seem to bother him that much. I have become Auntie Kali and there is no getting away from it now. I love that little man to pieces!

I adore watching babies and little ones discover themselves and the world around them! My daughter used to be fascinated by her feet.. could NOT keep socks on that child.. hmm still can't actually... She used to put her hands in her mouth when she started to make sounds, to try to find out where it was coming from.

My big project this weekend was to clean out my garage. I've been storing a bunch of crap for my mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law from when they moved two years ago. My brother-in-law and his wife just got a new place of their own, so I ran a bunch of stuff to him. My mother-in-law didn't want anything that was left. My sister-in-law only had a bunch of barbie dolls she was saving for Little Bear.
Little Bear, helping me, of course, found the barbies and started playing with them. She found the dental pick for dentist barbie and started chasing me around with it, like the killer in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
The other thing was traumatic. She took off her shoes in the garage. And that's the garage I store my fertilizer. So, she got fertilizer on her bare feet. And I couldn't give her a bath because she'd then have fertilizer everywhere. She had to have a shower. She seemed happy about it until I actually pulled the tap to send the water through the shower head. Then she started running around saying "No" and "I'm scared." But she needed it so I put her in.
By the time it was over, she was giving me back my ultimate rebuttal to her, "I said, 'No!' Daddy."
I felt horrible.

Awe! Sheesh, She is so smart. Can you believe that she associated the ultimate rebuttal with what she saw as an insult? ;D She amazes me with how well she speaks, more over, how well she communicates.

That is so cute! At the same time, Little Bear has learned a valuable lesson early in life. No means NO. I wish I had learned that lesson earlier.
Aaron's nephew has finally figured out how to roll over without getting his chubby arm stuck underneath him. He's teething now too, but he doesn't like the cold teething ring. He would much rather chew on his burp cloth. If you stand him up and hold him he will take steps on his own now too. Every day he discovers something new and I love watching him grow.

We were watching X-men or something and in the movie (lest you think otherwise) the Statue of Liberty was destroyed.
Johnathan: Well, that was a waste of time for the French.

On the weekends I've taken to not setting my alarms and Little Bear sometimes wakes up before me. When this happens I get woken up with a smile and the whispered words, "Daddy, I waked up."
Yesterday, she stuck a rose sticker half way up her nose and turned around to look at me. Trying hard not to laugh or smile I said to her in a monotone voice, "You are hilarious." She smiled and said, "uh-uaaaa".
Later that day I told her she was funny again. She said, "I not funny. I have no laughs." I said, "I think you have a laugh right here under your arm." and tickled her armpit. It was fun.

Awww that sounds so wonderful, Bear.
I have to admit even with teenagers the times are till fun. My daughter and I will chat via IM and almost every time I tell her I love her, I get back, "YAY! I love you too mommy" To which I must respond, "YAY!"
Those sweet little rituals that are special between parent and child.
